GenOdyssee is a drug discovery company using a unique, IP-protected approach to discovery of superior protein products. GenOdyssee discovers natural variants of proteins with higher efficacy and safety than marketed versions of the same therapeutic proteins. This approach is ideal for discovery of ‘next generation’ protein products for already-developed blockbuster markets. The company has a proprietary genomic DNA databank representative of the human population, which is screened for natural genetic variants of therapeutic proteins with superior properties. |
This approach to drug discovery is based on the idea that natural evolution may have lead to the generation in the current population of unpredictable mutations that would confer superior therapeutic status to known human therapeutic proteins.

|
Screening of this proprietary databank has given the company’s lead products, which are
I) GEA007.1 a natural variant of human Interferon-alpha which has the potential to be a ‘next generation’ interferon for the treatment of HCV infection. It may be positioned as 1st-line therapy with equivalent activity but lower toxicity than current IFN’s, and/or positioned for use in non-responders or relapsing patients infected with HCV genotype 1 and genotype 3.
|
II) GEA009.2 an Interferon for use in cancer. This molecule in fact represents a ‘first in class’ cancer drug since it activates a novel pathway in human immune cells. It thus provides a profile characterized by powerful immunomodulating properties dissociated from weak antiproliferative and antiviral activity

|
III) GO-EPO is a naturally-improved erythropoietin alpha (EPO) variant that has the potential to increase erythroid and erythroid progenitor cell re-constitution in anemic patients, compared to wild-type (WT) EPO. Its improved potency compared to currently marketed EPO’s may allow it to be used at lower doses in several anaemia indications. GO-EPO is the first natural and therapeutically active EPO alpha molecule listed in the USPTO database since Amgen’s. |
Its natural nature combined with improved potency makes it a unique and low risk opportunity to address the largest biotech market of the industry. This positions GO-EPO as a candidate next-generation EPO for 1st-line therapy in anaemia indications.

GenOdyssee’s drug discovery platform is applicable to a broad variety of proteins (cytokines and growth factors) including interferons, erythropoetins and interleukins and their receptors. It is also applicable to other classes of protein therapeutics such as blood factors, neuropeptides, or hormones, and their receptors. |
Based in Paris, France, GenOdyssee’s major investors include venture capital companies such as SGAM AI (Lead and Principal investor), Chela Capital Limited (Switzerland), Matignon Investissements FCPR, and Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners. The company has raised over Euro 24m in venture capital and income since its inception in Oct 1999. |

GO was founded in October 1999 by Dr. Jean-Louis Escary, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO, with the support from ANVAR, the French Agency for Innovation, and Génopôle 1er Jour, the Evry Génopôle incubator. Since its inception, the company has raised €17.0 million from French biotech venture funds, received €4.0 M in grants and generated €2.0 M in revenue . |
