It is hard to beat a remote control helicopter as a fun an inexpensive kid’s toy. Kids from six to sixty and beyond all love these things and these days, there is no shortage of rc helicopters for sale. The most popular ones are small, three channel indoor models that you pilot using an infrared controller. Syma, Team RC, and Viefly are a few of the most popular manufacturers in this category. Many of these are either cute, colorful designs that are meant to look eye catching and cool for kids. Many others are semi-scale versions of military helicopters, such as the Marine Cobra helis, the Army Blackhawk, the AH-64 Apache, and the CH-47 Chinook. Four channel helicopters are the next step up. These can be small indoor models, or slightly larger helicopters that you can fly outdoors – at least if the wind isn’t more than say 5 mph. The Megatech House-Fly is a nice indoor model. The Venom Beacon is larger and can be used either indoors or out. Align also now has a fixed pitch four channel helicopter, the Trex 100S. One of its neat features is that it comes with two batteries and it is easy to change the battery without removing the canopy.
